Scarborough Gypsy - Plum In Cheek (Herbert Nehrlich's Rhyming Comp) .

“He spoke with a plum in his mouth” She said br As if to imply that he was well bred br Though if you were fooled, you’re easily led br But it brought me to asking this question instead br br Why do we say “He spoke with a plum”? br Why not a strawberry or current bun? br What about apple, banana or pear? br At the end of the day, does anyone care? br br Has anyone tried to speak with a plum? br I did and must say, it’s not easily done br You slobber and spit and drawl at the jowls br You can’t get your mouth around any vowels br br At each new attempt you splutter and spray br As the fruit and your tongue get in the way br So at last to the plum, your mouth must succumb br And its flesh you devour, though a tad sour br But wait just one minute; I’ll give you a tip br For it’s awfully important br Don’t swallow the pip! br br Scarborough Gypsybr br Scarborough Gypsybr br
