I see two eyes br peering out at me from the corner of the couch br and a little pink nose br nestled in the middle br of bewhiskered, white marshmallow cheeks. br Uh oh. br What’s this? br Two ears approach br (twice too large for that adorable face) br and gold and black eyes are wide br in mischievous anticipation. br Oh mortals, take heed, br such a slow methodical stalk br hath this monstrous, tigrous beastie. br See how he takes his position br on a twitching haunch br poised for the merciless kill. br Aha! br He springs br completely surprising my defenseless hand. br Little pink paw pads br are choking my index finger br but my defiant digit wrestles to the death! br Oh fearsome proposition br what horrible teeth you have grandma br those mighty molars strike terror to my heart br pray don’t gum me to dea-Aaaaaaagggghhhhh! ! ! br (Damn cat.) br br br (Previously published in The Short North Gazette, Nov.
