Connie Webb - Memories From The Sixties

I remember when... br br I could finally where pants to school br No more frilly little dresses for me br It was easier to play on the monkey bars, too. br br We finally acquired a br Big black and white TV br I cried for joy watching Lassie escape another dangerous situation br And I watched the Beatles appear br On the Ed Sullivan show br For the first time br With our country western listening dad yelling br “Oh no, hippie music.” br br I got my first pair of go-go boots br And felt just like a movie star. br br People said “Right On” and “Groovy” br And gave each other the Peace sign. br br John F. Kennedy gave a speech in New York br And I couldn’t see it br So my dad lifted me high on his shoulders br Even though I didn’t know much about things political br I knew I was in the presence of a great man. br br And I remember when br I wore my first P.O.W. bracelet br And hoped for war to end br Still hope for it to end today.
