You said you were happy br that I had returned br to be honest I felt br I was glad that I did br before I'd neglected br to take you all in br now that I had br my head felt in a spin br br With a skip in your step br and a tug on my arm br you introduced me br to your friends at the dance br and said 'come with me br you've just got to meet Jim' br 'He's gay and my best friend br you'll really like him' br br I said 'hello' br and Jim gave me a smile br that seemed to go through me br and deep down inside br 'I mentioned to Claire br you were here in the bar' br 'I'm so glad you found her br she's really a star' br br You hugged me announcing br 'Isn't he great' br 'We thought that you'd never br come back here this late' br Jim said' By the way br I'll be leaving with friends' br 'I'm grateful' br 'But I won't be going home again' br br I looked and your dark hair br fell loose in a curl br encompassing eyes br that reflected the world br agate blue seas br with black pupils therein br I knew I was drowning br and I couldn't swim br br Your transformation br was such a surprise br by day like cocoon br by night butterfly br my heart missed a beat br when you called out my name br and I wrote the memories br on every page. br br The End.br br Charles M.
