There was a spirit of friendly fellowship br In the Family Reunion Days of long ago br When the young and old gathered together br And softened the day's beautiful glow. br br I can still detect a variety of odors br Of barbecue chicken, pie and cake br And the sizzling steaks on the grill, br Like the elderly members use to make. br br I recollect the old timers telling stories br About how rough life use to be, br The Great Depression and lengthy war years, br Heartfelt accounts they seemed to me. br br As the evening shadows began to deepen, br I always recited a simple, thankful prayer br For all the blessings, joys, and happiness br Our family was willing to share.br br Joseph T.
