Pete Crowther - Poor Lebanon and Some Thoughts on Brotherly Love

Poor Lebanon, one moment br smiling in the summer sun br when like a bolt from heaven br out of the clear blue sky br come death, destruction, bombs, br proud buildings toppled, br homes turned to dust, br towns, cities, villages br destroyed, day after day br explosions, missiles, shells and bombs, br women, children, innocents br killed, crushed, torn — all victims of br high politics and those br who wish to see the war prolonged br for reasons of their own. br But worst of all are those br mad Xtian zealots who believe br this war is Armageddon’s dawn, br most welcome harbinger of Judgement Day br when Christ returns and they, br the Chosen Ones will get to gaze br upon the damned, their sinful neighbours; br so satisfying it will be br to see them sent to Hell for all eternity.
