Linda Ori - Woods and Wildflowers

Wandering back to my childhood days br Memory serves up delicious scenes - br Days spent roaming the silent woods br Gathering wildflowers and bruises; br Bloodroots, trilliums, jack in the pulpit br These were my favorite ones br Some were in plenty, some were scarce br Some easy conquest, others more daring br High on stone ledges just above reach; br Clinging to branches.......stretching.................... br Lying on leaf covered ground strewn with acorns br Sweet smell of moss warming under my nose br Gazing aloft through the leaves overhanging br Breeze blowing gently to birdsong and bugs; br Sticky and dirt covered, trophies in hand br Wandering slowly back home br Elbows and knees bleeding and scratched br Back pocket hanging by threads br Mother was waiting there by the door br Ready to scold, yet to kiss br Accepting my offer of sweet smelling petals - br How could she reprimand this? br Those were the days of carefree abandon br Never a doubt in my wandering ways, br I often return in my daydreaming moments br Back to those sweet childhood days.
