Lori Boulard - 08 Chasing Vanity

Lori Boulard - 08 Chasing Vanity

Playing the mouse on the wheel, br I chase my health br on my usual machine, br my legs running br in little metal circles br on the rubber road by the cooler br going nowhere. br br Alas, in walks Adonis br from some better place- br at least I imagine so. br If only that short one there br would step aside. If only br his balding skull were transparent, br or he'd tended to that single br rebellious tuft in the back br concealing Mystery Man. br br Perhaps if I'd attained br the x-ray vision I'd expected br from Lasik's fifteen minutes of pain... br br But there he remains, eclipsing br the path of perfection, oblivious br to the theory of relativity br where sexual attraction is concerned, br perhaps believing that his presence br here alone warrants gifts of grace br and gravity reversal. br br I stare so long I lose my pace, br bells warning of sure disaster br should I stop mid-torture. br It's futile anyway, I tell myself, br and dress for coffee at three. br br Sure, I'm too good for him. br Maybe he has an unusual nose. br Besides, I was almost actually br breaking a sweat.
