Angela Davis - Finding Beauty

Angela Davis - Finding Beauty

I went for a walk with my love br down to an old vacant lot she took me br littered, and broken up br it made me sad, br made me think of myself br br I asked why she took me there br she silently smiled br and took my hand br led me to a place br br The pavement was cracked br the ground heaped with garbage br old and new br near a makeshift shelter br that some one had left br br She kissed my tears away br told me to smile br when I asked why br she told me to open my eyes br leaving me confused br br she said to look at the beauty br surrounding us br then began to point br br the doorway of the crude shack br was open, and the was a spiderweb br moist with the morning dew br small dropp formed at it ran down br and it was beautiful br br A few feet away br there was a daffodil br growing, thriving br despite the battered tarmac br through which it found a way br standing tall and proud br as well it should br and it was beautiful br br Just then we looked up br and what did we see br a blue jay landing atop the roof br and began singing it's song br br The sun was rising br peaking over the horizon br painting it red, orange, br yellow, and even violet br the sky was it's canvas br and it was beautiful br br She took me home br pointing at many other things br while we strolled home br when we got there br I thanked her br told her she was beautiful br br she stood me in front a mirror br telling me to find the beauty br there we stood for many long minutes br I looked, I saw, I contemplated br the sorrow carved into my features br the gentle wonder in my eyes br the scars life has left upon me br and it was beautifulbr br Angela Davisbr br
