A.J. McKinley - I Wept For...

I wept for the dying of my innocence br Hanging precariously from a broken moon br I swirled in the dance of the spiraled flame br Connections dripping, dangling…teasing br The August night lingering into the false dawn br While the gnarled owl whispered of wisdom eternal br I spoke but voice was akin to a pixie's flight br br I wept for the dying of my motherhood br The May Queen now retired to desolate chambers br Poisoning youthful thoughts with ageless dreams br My finest Brandy trickling away in the amber of my soul br The spirit wolf paces impetuously for the waning dusk br But the eclipse stole the passing of the night br And I forgot to cheat sleep with exuberant charm br br I wept for the dying of my wisdom br The crone no longer spins the web of truth br Memories spun into the ethereal weave of fate br And my soul was undefended in its long, cold night br While the ghouls knocked wickedly at my door br I laughed but the sound broke the light br And I never chanced to weep againbr br A.J.
