Irene C S ClarkHogg - A Degenerate Mouse Called Arthur

I have a little mouse called Arthur br Who gnaws away inside my bones br He is armed with sharp incisors br And metal claws on all his toes. br br Today was warm, so Arthur rested br Silly me, I thought he slept br Then, just as I felt complacent br From his hidey-hole he crept. br br He's gone to stir up his relations br They're scattered all about my frame br Every year his clan increases br I know them, every-one, by name. br br Arthur lives high in my neckbone br He scrambles up and down my spine br Neville nests in my right shoulder br On the other perches Constantine. br br My hands and feet are full of mouselets br In my elbows reside Nan and Nell br My knees are getting overcrowded br There's a nesting shortage, I can tell; br br 'Cos sometimes Arthur's awfully angry br Then daft ideas get in his head br He bites through my electric cables br And makes my arms and legs go dead. br br But, I haven't got much time for doctors br Dispensing pills and quaint advice br Conjuring up obscure diseases br When I know it's just my mice.
