Alison Cassidy - Looking Glass Reflections

Alison Cassidy - Looking Glass Reflections

When I was a child br the glass on the wall br was a mirror of me. br I put on faces and hats br and spent hours imagining br br When I was thirteen br I hated the mirror, br for it showed me br the spots on my face br I spent hours attempting to cover. br br When I was twenty br I would look in the mirror br and create each new face br that appeared on the stage br for the evening performance. br br When I was a mother br I sat with my daughter br and showed her br the 'girl in the mirror' br and told them both stories. br br When my children were grown br I met an old lover, who said br I was sexy and stood me br naked in front of the mirror br and forced me to look. br br Now that I'm sixty, the image br I see depends on the mirror. br I like the one in the bedroom br because it faces the window br and the light is flattering - br especially if I take off my glasses.
