Jacob called, one by one, br And bade farewell to each son. br He said, 'I'm leaving this earth br To join my people in death' br br 'In the cave, Abraham and wife Sarah, br Isaac and his wife Rebecca, br And my wife Leah are laid, br There, let me rest by their side.' br br Then he breathed his last. br In peace, his soul took rest. br Poor Joseph fell on his father, br And cried to find him no more. br br He got the body embalmed. br For seventy days, they mourned. br From the king, he took permission, br To take his father's body to Canaan. br br After he'd buried his father, br He returned with his brothers, br Who realized their fault, br And admitted their guilt. br br He said, 'Don't have any fear br When I am with you here. br All of you I'll take care, br Also your children's welfare.' br br The Death of Joseph br br He was one hundred br And ten years old br When he died, at last, br In the land of Egypt. br br He made a request br That he be laid to rest, br By his father's side, br As soon as he died. br br His glorious life came to an end; br But in the history of mankind, br His golden chapter is still read: br 'A noble soul, God-blessed.
