Herbert Nehrlich - From My Attic X

Herbert Nehrlich - From My Attic X

It was a bed of leaves, br skunk cabbage to be exact. br The urges have it, someone said br at that re-union in the smallest of, br and rustiest of towns, whoppeee. br br Goddammit all those claps and straps, br a temperate climate does not make allowance br for urgency, I bless the tropics, truly br where barely seconds are required to br give in or take her up on sudden weakness. br br So, on a bed of fragrant if not pleasant green observers br we reminisced and told each other about time, br how it had cheated us and raced ahead to brag br about the years when we were struggling to pass. br So we made up for it, felt guilty in the morning. br br But at a whim we sat at breakfast, holding hands br we fed each other country sausage and farm eggs br and in our eyes we saw the past as if we lived there br until we did, had been transported back in time. br I licked her fingers then, all ten, and one by one, br we closed our eyes and all the world did go away.
