Josephine Adrian - Self Portrait

Josephine Adrian - Self Portrait

A laugh to cover the anger, br A smile to hide the pain. br Sorrow falling upon me, br Like frigid drops of rain. br br Attacking from all sides, br I flee from its advances; br Avoiding any tangles, br Dodging awkward glances. br br Horrid flash backs, br Lurk around each corner; br To these darknesses, br I am not a foreigner. br br I have encountered tears, br On a bright summer morning; br Grief has rung my hearts doorbell, br Without the slightest warning. br br My eyes flow like waterfalls, br Every tear looks for a way out. br Leaving me with everything, br To try and figure out. br br Mortal people hurt my feelings, br And forget me just the same, br Hurling insults in my direction, br After carefully taking aim. br br I am out to prove them wrong, br That I can be much more; br Just wait to see what's coming; br What I have in store.
