Sidi J. Mahtrow - Ode to Shoppers Everywhere

Shopping's a pleasure br Says the local ad br To ensure br That in parting with your cash – you'll be glad. br br So it was the other day br When I was picking my way br Amongst the bags and cans br And jars of assorted brands br That I looked up to see br Coming straight for me br A lady (that's what we call them) br Riding a motorized shopping pram. br br So intent was she br That I hardly had time to flee br Escape was what I intended br Otherwise my life would have surely ended br For not only was she intent on shopping pleasures br But had in tow a full size cart to hold her treasures. br br With items heaped high. br There was surely no sense of others nearby br Intent and passionately she came on br Taking only a moment to select and then was gone. br br Gone was she to regions of the store, br I know not where, or wanted any more br Of the terrors that perhaps lurk br Around every twist and turn br br So I hastened to the check out br Forgetting what other items I was without br Glad to seek the safety of the street br Where with cars and trucks I'll gladly compete. br br sbr br Sidi J.
