Joshua Fegley - The gallows

Joshua Fegley - The gallows

Looking back on my life; br ever so shallow. br Slowly they walk me; br to the gallows. br br They want me to hang, br from the gallows; br standing me tall, br before my fall. br br I raped... br and I pillaged. br I killed women and children, br in every village. br br Now I'm going to hang, br from these gallows; sentenced. br To feel my body dangle and shake, br for the violence I left in my wake. br br Forward I walk. br I do not resist; br for them to end my life, br I could only insist. br br Let me hang, br from these gallows. br How grand it would be; br for the world to finally look up at me? br br Floor gives loose, br I feel the tightening noose. br My death is rushed, br as my larynx is crushed. br br Fascinated to standby; br so happy to see me die. br I hear the commotion, br as my body whips in motion. br br The rope is too short, br at the take. br Not to end my life, br with a fast and even break. br br I hang from these gallows, br slipping and fading. br Through my life, br ever so wading. br br Dying slowly from these gallows, br it only takes a short while. br I look down to the crowd br and give a loving smile. br br Far from a heroic death. br I can't even draw in my last breath; br as I flop and swing. br I embrace whatever death may bring.
