Linda Ori - Christmas Blues

Linda Ori - Christmas Blues

The tree stands in the corner br Adorned with sparkling lights, br Beneath the tree are presents br Wrapped on many sleepless nights; br The cards have all be written br And mailed to one and all, br The cookies baked and frosted br And the cheese rolled in a ball; br I sit here and I ponder br What's the meaning of this scene? br I'm harried and I'm tired br And my wallet's out of green; br I love the Christmas music br And the parties with my friends, br The lengthy conversation br On the phone that never ends; br I took the time to try to find br That special gift so right, br The one that says 'I love you' br In hopes that it just might br Let you know how much I care - br I hope I get one, too, br Somehow it seems one sided, br 'Cause the gift I get from you br Is usually something meaningless, br You never seem to know br Just what it is I really want, br Your gift is just for show; br Oh, well, it's just another year, br Another small disaster - br I bust my butt to do it all, br Each year I do it faster; br So for now I'll just relax, br Enjoy this lovely tree - br Drink some wine and rest my mind br And take the time to be br Totally in the moment, br Now all the work is done - br Christmas comes but once a year..............
