ivor .e hogg - Dragonettes

I know a place where Dragons fly. br Not scaly monsters in the sky br but delicate and very small br and they come to me when I call. br br Their skin is silky soft and warm br and when they trust you they will swarm br around your head in antic flight. br Their rainbow colours glowing bright. br br They dine on gnats and mosquitoes br and other insects I suppose. br For even tiny dragons eat. br Though for their food they must compete br br with swallows, swifts and of course br all other flying predators. br To see them as they feed in flight br can fill my heart with pure delight. br br But best of all I love to see br my little dragons flying free br in brilliant aerial display. br With which they mark the end of day. br br The last rays of the setting sun br high light their colours one by one br All colours of the spectrum show br from scarlet red to indigo. br br A living coruscating rainbow, br in which the colours ebb and flow. br This few are privileged to see. br a dance of living jewellery. br br Where have you been what have you seen? br My parents ask its pure routine. br I dare not answer truthfully br I choose my words most carefully. br br I have been watching dragonflies br which they accept without surprise br I skirt the truth but do not lie br I have been watching Dragons fly. br br 7-Jan-07br br ivor .
