Dee Daffodil - I Found Her

Dee Daffodil - I Found Her

I found her in a phone booth br Dressed in jammies and a jacket br Eyes brimming with tears br Goose-egg lump on her head br Blood around her mouth br From where he'd popped her br br There she was...a frail little thing br Shaking from the cold... br Or from fear... br I never exactly know which br br So she told me br That he had done this br Several times before br But she just couldn't take any more br So she'd left...in slippers...she'd left br br And I felt the bile that is anger br Rise up in me br And I felt myself thinking br That I could offer a final solution br To all of her problems br And it would be cheap and tidy br Well...ok...maybe not so tidy... br br But then my conscience br Got the best of me br And I took her some place safe br And part of me half said a prayer br That maybe in his drunken rage br Buddy might just slip up br And turn his anger on himself... br Instead of on her...
