When she reached on tip-toe br To pull down the hazelnut br From above the La Marzocco, br Her shirt would ride up to reveal br Four lines of poetry in the smallest, br Most minute, illegible font; br A green quatrain tattooed upon br Her yoga-sculpted abdomen, br An inch below and to the side of br Her elegantly protruding hip-bone. br br Looking, but trying br Not to look as if he looked, br Curious, shy, but obsessing br Over the content and meaning br Of this pelvic verse, br He imagined it to be br A message solely for a lover’s eyes, br In Sanskrit, Greek, or Aramaic; br Anglo Saxon or Middle English. br br He dreamed of placing br His head in her hands, br Reading and savoring br Her indelible, obscure, br Indecipherable text.
