Ben Gieske - Born To Die

Ben Gieske - Born To Die

Black ant on my bathroom sink br Its light no longer blinks. br Squirrel flattened victim of the tread br It’s light has since long fled. br br Were they meant to Die? br br Titmouse in the claws of the owl br Its life-light victim of the fowl br br Worker bees in a hive br She a victim may be. br She a martyr might be br For the queen of the hive. br br Were they meant to die? br br The meat-eating plant br What deceit it hides. br What is your complaint? br Your were meant to die. br br Come and visit awhile. br We will be pals br At least for awhile br As long as I smile. br br Are we meant to die? br Conditioned by faith? br Must we live with fate? br Somehow we decide. br br It’s really what we see br In the tunnel of sight br Or maybe what we believe. br With light comes sight. br With sight come light. br br We were meant to die. br br When life means death br After the last breath br And death means life br In the tunnel of light. br br We live from withinnot from without, br Not orbit boundto zoom around and around. br br Life is but a trace br Of successes and mistakes br To which we give a face br Or perhaps a name, br But it’s still the same. br br In the beginning br ................There was darkness br ................................- then light. br In the beginning br ................was the Word br ................................- then life. br Where we meant to live br .................- then die br ................................
