A second bathroom was built. br The roof had such a tilt. br That a dormer had to be made, br with a window and a shade. br br I crept out that upstairs window br To see why the night sky was aglow. br Sat there on that steep rooftop. br So I could look out over the treetops. br br Off in the distance to the north br The Mardi Gras celebration on July the 4th. br I don't remember going there. br But I do remember the rooftop stares. br Knees bent from the pitch of the roof. br My own little opera booth. br br From there I would view the bright night sky. br Colored mushrooms I would spy. br Wagon wheels and a pinwheel or two. br Even a shooting star to name a few. br br Funny how you saw them light the sky br and yet the sound was almost denied. br Maybe just soft waves of mumble br as if a storm was starting to rumble. br br I kept going back year after year. br To that spot I held so dear. br To witness the bright night sky br celebrating Mardi Gras 4th of July. br br Until I married and moved away br We happened to be visiting that day. br Thought I would revisit some youthful joy. br Made it out that window, still bit of a tomboy. br br But to my saddened eye. br I could no longer spy. br The bright night sky at all. br The trees now had grow too tall.
