Dónall Dempsey - Preserve

Dónall Dempsey - Preserve

Tongues stained br with blackberries br br we collect kisses br br falling into ditches br br being stung by nettles. br br Your dress snags on a briar br and you cry in mock horror. br br I cut through the tangle of thorns br as if I were your Prince. br br Charming me br you undo br your buttons br & you br (step out of your dress) br br as if you were being br stepping out of your self. br br Your dress hangs br like a chrysalis. br br You let down your golden hair br & we make love then & br br there...a tractor & some cows go by br we laugh & try to hide. br br The sun beats down on my bum br we giggle & come br br return br to the big old dirty br br town br & br turn br br our blackberry picking days br into luscious winter jam.
