David Taylor - Thoughts of Retirement

David Taylor - Thoughts of Retirement

Not knowing what is coming br But dreading the thoughts of nothing br Dreading more what is in dreams store br Anything would be better than br My dream of what’s reality br Led along a path of destiny br By a bunch of bridled horses br They cannot change canals courses br Ropes taught with tension br Tow paths under hoofs give traction br Reaching weirs with locks br Locks for elevation br Waters rising but not elation br Reaching places where once br Within the habitation br Dark satanic mills brought desperation br Boating on the canals in long br And narrow boats br No longer pulled by horses br But by horse power measured pistons br Horses now released from bridles br We still follow courses laid in our br Ancestors revolutionary days br When they made the waterways br And laid tracks for locomotives br With invisible reigns you pull br The economic boats and trains br Along the paths our fathers laid br Unless we would wake up from br Past dreams br And look at what is real br Not what it seems.
