I have a dream of an Africa br A united Africa! br Self sustaining and self reliant br Able to produce br Anything out of nothing br And trade within her-self br And with the world at large br A proud Africa br Of a civilizing people br Like our Egyptian, and br Olmec ancestors… br I dream of an Africa that br Patrice Lumumba died for br Kwame Nkrumah stood up for br Nelson Mandela paid dearly for br An Africa of Haile Selasie I br An Africa of GIANTS br Where men are great, proud and dignified br An Africa of Cleopatra, Maqeda, Nzingha and Nyamazana br An Africa without genocide, starvation, or disease br An Africa, without dictators! br A free Africa br Taking on the driver’s seat br Teaching without enslaving- br To show the world it’s possible! br No refugees because br All the Children belong! br An Africa, a Mother Land br Where an elephant br Feeds from the Elephant Tree br And the gorilla roams free br And the lion goes to hunt br If he wants br Because God loved him to! br An Africa that br Bhambatha (ka Mancinza) br Sobukwe (Robert) br Fanon (Frantz) br Biko (Steve) br X (Malcolm) br Garvey (Marcus) br And Douglas (Frederick) br Would look at and smile about br I have a dream of an Africa br But from this one, I shall not wake br Because I dream standing up br My eyes looking out br My arms open wide br To the ones, mad enough, to dream the same-br br LLM Mbathabr br
