Marilyn Lott - Gnarled Trees and Wagon Wheels

Marilyn Lott - Gnarled Trees and Wagon Wheels

I saw an old homestead br Not so long ago br The house was worn and weary br It had lost its luster and its glow br br Sadly I took some pictures br And wondered about the folks br That at one time raised their families here br So many thoughts this place evokes br br The old barn had seen better days br I could even see some rot br Many animals once had babies here br Some had made it, some had not br br I’m sure inside this old home br Many babies here too were born br Perhaps with the help of a neighbor br And now it looked so forlorn br br I touched a dried old gnarled tree br Felt the roughness beneath my hand br A swing probably hung from a branch br On this worn and deserted land br br An old wagon wheel against a fence br Was so beautiful to me br Ah yes, I loved this old place br With all its mysteries br br And as I turned to walk away br It kind of gave me chills br To see an old homestead like this br With gnarled trees and wagon wheels!br br Marilyn Lottbr br
