Bhaja Govindam br br Where’s the place for lust, br When the manhood is lost? br Of what use is of a lake, br Waterless one, namesake? br br Where had the relatives flown, br When the wealth is gone? br Will any attachment remain, br When the Truth is known? br br Do not boast of wealth. br Or friends and youth, br For they aren’t permanent br And can vanish any moment. br br Maya, the world of illusion, br Will keep you in confusion. br So, free yourself from this br And seek the ultimate bliss. br br Time plays its vital role. br Not caring for any soul, br Seasons come and go, yet, br Your desires never abate. br br (So far, Shankara recited br these verses to open the eyes br of the Grammarian-Pundit. br Thereafter, one by one, br his disciples sang forth br one verse each, addressing br the Pundit.
