There is a wild, restless wind br Knocking, Knocking, br Rattling on my door br This dark and shivery day, br Making the loose windows br Shake and call my name. br br It is trying to lure me br Outward, out of my warm, br Safe home, whispering, teasing me, br Calling me, promising me interesting br Things for this soul cold day, br But with no guarantees. br br I am afraid, but br I chance a look about. br My wonderful red fire, br Glowing with warmth and cheer, br Says to me, 'Stay, safe....' br My kitten, sleeping so sweetly, br Suddenly awakens with a hiss. br With fur raised on end, br She rushes under the chair! br And the dog, hackles raised, br Growls low in his throat! br br I shiver, and see the cold winter trees, br Doing their wicked dance, br Sensually swaying, Whipping br Branches too and fro. br The dangerous wind lingers, br Outside my doorway, Calling me... br But I stay inside, Safe, br Yet tempted by the restless wind.
