I had been reviewing my life that afternoon in 1964 br When I heard the whistle blow br Off in the distance a train approached br Little did anyone know at the time br A Pontiac on Maple Street was stalled on the tracks br Three drunken teenagers were playing 'Chicken' br With a two hundred ton engine roaring down on them br Life went on for me br Even as theirs appeared about to end br So young and such a waste it would have been br If those three boys were to have met death that day br So I simply wiped my mind clean of the train and its deadly whistle br And for that moment at least br All was set right with the world..... br Until we four went off to the war in Nam..... br There is no denying the Train its due br What is br Will be br br br br 2007© T.
