As I look back on my life br Starting when I was a child br In some ways it seems br I’ve only been here for awhile br br But in other ways I wonder br How I did so many things br To get myself from there to here br So many chapters my life brings br br Living in many towns growing up br Schools a year then move on br My dad looking for a job br Not really sure where I’d belong br br My mother sick a lot of the time br So I learned to cook so young br Mom had no patience it seemed br I think she was just so high-strung br br But I grew up pretty well br And many mistakes I would make br A couple of failing marriages br My heart would surely break br br But it didn’t no, I kept going on br Sooner or later I’d get it right br I married and had my babies br My life seemed pretty bright br br Then he died when my little boy br Was six, his sister fourteen br So I raised them all alone br Gone was my future and dreams br br But it wasn’t, for ten years later br I met a guy from back in school br I decided I’d get married again br Truly hoping I was not being a fool br br It worked for me just fine br Getting older and kids long gone br Never ever give up your dream br To survive you’ve gotta be strong!br br Marilyn Lottbr br
