Theresa Ann Moore - Lunar Eclipse

Sleepily I step outside to peek br Searching through the tall oak trees br Dew covered grass soaks my feet br A lunar eclipse is beyond the leaves. br br August 28,2007 is the date br 5: 33 A.M. is the time br All the sky is as nondescript as slate br The spectacular event will be sublime. br br Dangling in the heavens above br An eerie glow is slowly consumed br Gloom grasps with its ghostly glove br Iridescence is inevitably doomed. br br 5: 44, remaining is a thin shallow bowl br dimming light chokes the sphere br dominating darkness takes control br hiding the massive luminous mirror. br br 5: 57, a smudge of soot smears br Covering the moon’s face br An outline of light hugs and reveres br Like a clinging halo that is chaste. br br 6: 06, a heavy blanket smoothers light br as the moon fades into ebony ink br Its nothingness is spectacular sight… br The concealing mask makes me think. br br Rarely do I see perfect alignment br Of our planet blocking lunar rays. br My mind is locked into confinement… br Dawn now evaporates the morning haze.
