David Taylor - Bindweed

David Taylor - Bindweed

He sighs as the sun lowers towards his horizon br as lengthening shadows cross his winding path br a magpie plays in the hedgerow, he looks for a second br In the distance smoke rises from rooftop chimneys br and his breath becomes just visible in chilled autumn air br Bindweed lines his path strangling his desire to explore br and in the distance a deer stands trancelike held in fear br Behind a stick snaps with crisp echoes in his mind br above high in a sycamore an owl opens one eye br as he rests in his hollow bough once home to squirrels br who fervently seek acorns on the sparsely covered ground br and all is thinly veiled in a wispy insubstantial mist. br Tomorrow he says to himself, tomorrow I will br but not today.
