David Harris - A Mountshannon October Morning

The stranger sat upon the park bench, br and looked across the Lough. br Smoke from his pipe br blended with the cool morning breeze. br The distant mountains patchwork of green br sat under the hand of dawn’s rolling mist. br The white capped dark waters rolled endlessly against the shore, br nudging the sheltering boats against their moorings, br and washed over shoreline rocks br speckled with lichen and moss. br A pair of swans with their signets sheltered br in the calmer waters of the harbour br away from the white capped waves. br The sun edged its way into the sky, br from behind the sleeping mountains, br spreading red and oranged fingers br to touch the retreating night clouds. br The village adopted ginger cat br made his morning patrol br along the harbour’s sleeping boats, br in a search for breakfast. br The autumn coloured tree leaves, br fluttered in the morning breeze br as the wind and waves rolling br over the shore bound rocks disturbing br the dawning silence.
