Margery Rehman - Waiting.

Margery Rehman - Waiting.

Life hangs in a vacuum. br Hesitant to plan anything br Go to town, invite friends to dropp in, br We get on with our tedious routine br While, full of selfish concerns, br We pray it does not happen br At too inconvenient a time. br br We've been waiting for weeks br To hear it's over, his fight br Being waged to stay alive br Just one more day, one more night. br He's not someone we've been close to, br Or even very much liked, br But he is family, part of the clan. br br Why does he have to struggle so? br For inevitably he will lose. br It's a matter of time the doctors say br While sedating him once again. br He's very old, the disease won't go. br There's nothing we can do for him br To mitigate the pain. br br But getting on with everyday things br Is hard; listening for the phone, br Waiting for that fateful ring br His death knell; our relief.
