Easy to give up, when you’ve been given up on. br Easy to step into the shade, br avoid harsh light that points up br the errors that you’ve made. br Easy to give up comforts: br chocolate and wine; br company of friends; br dreamless sleep; routines br that eased the passing of the tedious days br and instead, br give yourself up to endless questioning, br revolving in your head br the riddle – “What if? Why? Should I have...? When? ” br And finding there’s no answer, giving up, br hide your face to wallow in self – blame. br br Not I.
