ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Around the Lake

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Around the Lake

Around the lake the trees surround br Reflections on the water shine, br And deepest blue the autumn sky br A picture that is so divine, br The autumn all around me now br As leaves are floating to the ground, br A whisper of the summer gone br As they fall without a sound. br br November still the morning bright br The weeping willow there does stand, br Touching shade where darkness falls br And drapes the water and the land, br It looks so sad now all is lost br About to sleep through winter's cold, br And cannot cling on anymore br To all its falling leaves of gold. br br Which float upon the water's edge br To where the ducks do swim and feed, br Upon the bread from passers by br Beside the languid sedge and reed, br Around the lake the trees surround br A palette rich in colours flow, br And where the auburn yellows blend br With all the scarlet ambers glow.
