ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Fawley Sky

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Fawley Sky

And as the sunset falls upon br The Solent shines a sea of fire, br And glistens on the gentle waves br Just like the finest gold, br And so the amber deepens now br Within the smoking Fawley sky, br And shadows sink and grow until br Its beauty does unfold. br br I feel the evening's fading warmth br As I now stand by water's edge, br Upon the shingle beach I hear br The gently lapping tide, br I watch until the sun turns red br Then slowly disappears from view, br Beyond the dark and distant shore br That reaches far and wide. br br I watch the twilight fade away br And as the stars begin to shine, br The moonlight cast upon the sea br While chilly winds do blow, br Still the sound of breaking waves br Upon the cold and shingle shore, br I gaze across the Fawley sky br With chimney stacks aglow.
