arundhati sinha - (Under Construction)

I heard of a girl br With plain brown eyes br And oh! So plain her hair br Every place she used to go br No one seemed to care br br As the seasons passed her by br And brought her to the age br All she sought was an admiring eye br To lend her heart a cage br br Her desire grew and grew and grew and grew br She did not accept defeat br Alas! Her suitors were less than few br Her demands they could not meet br br Thus, the story beings br As oft told to young girls br Desire unchecked, of greed sings br One’s life, to despair it hurls br br She prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed br To God to make her fair br In milk and petals of roses she’d wade br Into the mirror she’d stare br br At the onset of spring it happened br Like a rose blooming late br Uncountable suitors with cages to lend br On their knees began to wait br br In that crowd she began to seek br A man full of might br Whose one look make her weak br Rid her of any fright br br Her desire, none would fulfil br None would evn hear br They looked and looked and looked and looked still br None understood her fear br br Many eyes she won by beauty and grace br Their hearts all so hollow br She feared time would first take her face br And then they would follow.
