Charles Wiles - ..Live Well And Long (love poem)

When you are standing by my grave br Don't ask the children to behave, br Let them run free and shout out loud, br The living joy of which I'm proud. br br When I am lying six feet deep br Don't sadly hang your head and weep, br But let my final epitaph br Be tales of life that make you laugh. br br When you are talking at my wake br Don't chat politely eating cake, br Instead buy champagne by the crate br Link arms with friends, dance, celebrate! br br When people stop and say 'too bad' br Don't reminisce and then feel sad, br But raise your glass up high and toast br The joys of life you love the most. br br When all are shaking hands at last br Don't hold a grudge from years long past, br But face each other, then embrace, br Forgive, let love spread from this place. br br And finally, when on your own, br Don't think that you are all alone, br But sing out loud so I can hear br And wipe away that foolish tear. br br For I lived well br And I lived long br And none shall soon forget my song, br And all I wish, br From high above, br Is you live well and long, my love.
