Ernestine Northover - So Sweet A Song

Ernestine Northover - So Sweet A Song

A golden star hung in the sky, br And sang to the child a lullaby. br So sweet a song, that the boy did sleep br Alongside the donkey and bleating sheep. br br Fresh hay, so soft, was his cradle bed, br Within a cold and damp cattle shed. br And his Mother, in her deep joy, wept, br As vigil over here babe, she kept. br br A golden star hung in the sky, br And shone so bright to signify br That here did lay a Holy King, br Who gives us life everlasting.
