Perhaps they don’t throw stones br Simply skipping them instead br Picking and choosing only the best br Sleek, slim, rounded at the edges br Such as will easily skim along the surface br Lacking desire to plum the depths br br We, poets, observe them br Driven to distraction at times br Amused at other junctures br Maddened as well in turn br Or merely apathetic br But always perplexed br At these ‘Skimmers’ br Whose fundamental immediate lives br Leave them skimming across the surface br Never dipping hands into cold deep waters br Or noticing the stream reflecting br The wonders of the skiesbr br Mary Havranbr br
