Mary Havran - Wordplay With Marshmallows

Mary Havran - Wordplay With Marshmallows

Some days are meant for marshmallows br Such light and puffy stuff br Time for tossing words about br For phenomenal fun with fluff br Infinite interludes for introspection br Imbue innumerable another day br However a taste for marshmallows br Suddenly insinuated itself today br br No harm ensues from marshmallows br (No eye need be put out) br As long as one practices prudence br While tossing them about br As with all sugary self indulgence br Some control needs be employed br But no call for complete capitulation br (Marshmallows won’t be denied) br br Like clouds they are in substance br (Or at least they so compare) br This froth of egg whites and sugar br When fully whipped with air br Though sticky at inception br Once given a chance to chill br Then danced through dusting of powder br They proceed to a benign thrill br br One cannot subsist on marshmallows br (I do concede that singularity) br And some don’t relish their taste br (So I embrace such peculiarity) br But allow me this indulgence br On this extraordinary day br While a penchant for marshmallows br Occupies my wordplaybr br Mary Havranbr br
