Francis Duggan - The Koala

Francis Duggan - The Koala

He's not been known to expend energy br Spends most of his life on high branch of gum tree br Scratching his ears and sitting on his bum br And feasting on the leaves of manna gum. br br Whilst other creatures run and sport all day br He eat and sleep and doze his life away br Small eyes, big ears and button type dark nose br All night and day he sleep and eat and doze. br br By white man hunted to extinction brink br The Koala, Aboriginal for 'no drink' br The creeks all dry and no water about br But Koala not been known to die in drought. br br And I've been told that their numbers on increase br That conservationist gave to them a new life lease br And it's thanks to those, to those who genuinely care br That Australian wood still has it's 'native bear'. br br A cuddly looking creature like big cuddly toy br And i have always felt a sense of joy br The few times I've been lucky enough to see br A koala up on high branch of gum tree.
