Lights of the thousands of stars br Don't seem enough for such a night br You miss the moon badly br Who can make the night bright. br br Without proper transportation br Without supply of electricity. br Life here is so different br Deprived of city-like facility. br br A moonless night of summer, br Is not a piece of cake br If you're going for a hike br Don't panic if you encounter a snake. br br Among the sounds of toads and cockroaches, br When One sound appears different br Do you need your Grand'ma to confirm you br 'This is the sound of a serpent.' br br br Authour's note: The poem is about my village in north Bihar, India. This is my experimental rhyming scheme where alternate lines rhyme in each stanza.
