THE SUNLIGHT CAUGHT IN HER VOICE br br The darkness br of her hair br br & the blue br in her eye br br sang of her br br & transformed br the world br br into a beauty br a child could see br br notes like br drops of rain dripping br br from a branch br br the sunlight caught br in her voice br br memory forever br holding still br br the song of the blue br in her eye br br the song of the darkness br in her hair. br br br * * * * * * * br br AND THE SONG SUNG br br And the song br sung to please br br had its own br song br br that hid br within the song br br or ran in & br out among the words br br like delighted child br br hovering above br or lingering below br br the melody line br br the song of my mother br singing singing br br as if her heart br would break br br or break br the heart of others br br the song br that sang her br br hiding now br at its finish br br in the toss of her hair br the tear in her eye. br br * * * * * * * br br EVEN TIME STOPPED TO LISTEN br br In my mind br you will be br br always singing br br forever held br in the spell br br of your voice br br even Time br stops to listen br br & I br always your child br br lost in the magic br of your song br br eternally. br br br * * * * * * * br I awoke at 2.30 in the morning with the image of your mother and the song of her blue eyes and black hair singing in my mind and wrote these 3 poems down as if in a dream and went to sleep again. I awoke to the morning and they were still there. I hope they do her justice. See now how you who have set her singing in your poems…set her singing in my heart now.
