David Taylor - Wherever I May Be

David Taylor - Wherever I May Be

A first floor Maisonette br on a busy street. br A terraced house br on a crowded corner br at the gas works' feet. br A des res in a private road br of dreamy blossoms br such a show! br A country estate br with woodland, stables br and impressive looking gate. br A cottage on a one way street br with trees that shaded from the heat. br An apartment built long ago br with ornate windows br in which leaded colours glow. br br They are all homes br which at times I've lived in br and each has its memories br still dwelling deep within. br But grander or humble br there is no way to say br which of those places br was the best place to stay. br The happiness was never br contained by four walls br or even the gardens br or neighbours that called. br br The sounds of the past br still echo in each br of playing with children's toys br or eating a celebration feast. br Of passion in bedrooms br and fights in the dark br of anxious times br hoping illness departs. br Of victories and failures br of external trials of life br carried back home br to share with a wife. br br As I look around br this now, small humble home br I want to open all the windows wide br throw open all doors br and spread the homely warmth br that's found inside br as far as it will go. br And make the world my home br with a cosmic vaulted roof br and the stars as chandeliers br the walls, four corners of the earth br a mossy carpet for my feet br and Your love to welcome me br wherever I might find my Self br wherever I may just be.
