Kate Wiley - Nocturne VII, Midnight Storm

Kate Wiley - Nocturne VII, Midnight Storm

my goal is to write 24 nocturnes, after Chopin. I have 14 so far. br br That rushing siege of Midnight Storm br Wielding her weight in mighty form, br Conquers trees and fields with glory br Her dark clouds like purgatory br Sending blasts of blazing flare; br The blinding burst of lightning's glare br In black Sky's brilliant sword-clash strung br Gold crowns of Gotterdammerung br Powerful as raven's wings- br Heart-beats of those bold hammerings. br Her warriors riding jet-black horses br Showing strength of Titan forces, br Cast from fingers' silver nails br The pelting rocks of frozen hails. br br Raindrops flailing brushy streams br Find sirens calling out to dreams br Left far behind, in the Azores br In ships that wrecked on ocean's shores br And madden the waves that hurl themselves br Rushing, multiplied by twelves br To stately death on golden sands, br Kismet's sands-those endless strands. br She dances then the dance of death br Weaving herself a coral wreath br Then morning breaks eternally br She sings and moans a reverie br Of glories past now lost to view- br Calm water's sky reflecting blue.
