Kate Wiley - Nocturne XII, Lights in the Night

Kate Wiley - Nocturne XII, Lights in the Night

The Moon's not here tonight; she’s gone a-roaming. br I saw her only a night or two ago, br But when I looked again for her tonight br She didn’t come. She won’t be back for a while. br The sky is dark and lonely when she's gone br Although there sometimes are the tiny stars br Giving little glitterings afar br And the sky is soft and beautiful, like velvet~ br Now without a moon the darkness deep br Closes in, extinguishing the light; br Except for lamps which man has made for us br Glowing from the windows of our homes; br So bright the lights in streets of New York City br They have been seen most easily from space. br Brilliant imitations of the sun, br Without them we would all be caught in darkness. br Let those lights be glowing ever bright br That they may lighten all our hearts at night.
