Mary Havran - Advice of Elders (for what it’s worth)

I remember, yes remember br Though distant the sounds of youth br Older people voicing warnings br Their ancient versions of the truth br br I do recall, yes I recall br Though the words seem fainter now br Dismissing it as only chatter br Not worth my time at all br br I laughed, yes I laughed br Oh and rolled my eyes away br Convinced I need not worry br Over things that they might say br br I dismissed them, yep I dissed them br Those dinosaurs in rocking chairs br Disbelieving golden wisdom br Lay beneath their silvered hairs br br You are waiting, surely waiting br Admission of youth’s blind mistake br Expecting that by now I’ve learned br Theirs was sage advice to take br br They were right, oh often right br But they were often wrong as well br Should I give you like advice today br You may well answer: “Go to Hell”br br Mary Havranbr br
